benifit of spray bar in fuge?

Hi! Everyone:

currently I have a spray bar attached to the drain in my fuge (not return to tank) but makes alot of noise, I was thinking of adding an elbow & pvc pipe submerged into the water. This will reduce the water fall sound effects. Is there any benefit to the spray bar?.

Why not submerge your spray bar just slightly below the water surface so it can still do the function of breakign the water for enhanced air exchang eand light penetration? This will significantly lower your sound level. If your spray bar is designed for a wet dry type filter/fuge combo, then I gas you will ahve to put a pic up so that I can design something for you.

that's what I did last night, I put an elbow & PVC pipe & connected the spray bar at the water level. Reduced the noise level by 95%.
