I'm wondering about what order to add my Live Sand & Live Rock to my system. I have a 125 gallon tank and would like to have a Deep Sand Bed ( 4" minimum ) Since it's such a large tank and it's my first one I plan on curing the rock inside the tank and using it to cycle the tank.

I've heard opinions both ways. Cure the live rock with an empty tank so the "nasty" critters can be seen and possibly captured, then place the sand around the rocks. The other way I saw described was to put the sand in first, then the rocks on top.

Is there a preferred way ? Rocks on top of sand could cause "dead" spots and sand sifters could accidentally knock the rocks over ? Rocks on the glass bottom, then fill in the sand around them, makes the rocks more stable, but 4" deep would cover up quite a bit of rock yes ?
