Anyone know of a way to silence venturi airflow sound without restricting airflow?

I have a octopus ps 200 skimmer that I modded the venturi and it works great, but after I enlarged the tube size to 1/4" the sound is herrendous. I have been using the silencer that comes with it backwards (put venturi tube into the larger nozzle). It works well for both sound and airflow, howevr I feel that type of silencer really restricts airflow.

Any suggestions?

one way is to use a short length of 1" pvc...and 2 1" caps....drill a hole on 1 side for a short piece of tubing and drill the other side for your skimmer's tubing....also add some cotton or toilet tissue inside to muffle the air

THey sell mufflers for the Octopus skimmers ( sometimes they are included sometimes they are not ). What worked for me was to simple stuff some cotton in. It didnt seem to affect the functioning as I was getting plenty of bubbles and it even helped with the overflowing water.

I currently have their silencer, but modded the size of the venturi tube, so have to use it backwards and I think it messes with airflow a little

you can even use a pill jar...or even a plastic ball....hahaha
its whatever you can find or have laying around....but once you understand the basic design of a silencer....you can use anything to make one....

Auto, So i drill a hole in the bottom of the pill container and put the venturi tube through it. Then put the cap of the pill jar on, and do I drill a small hole in top of pill container?

Do I stuff with cotton as other have suggested?
