Ok, so over the week I changed my chemipure and phosban aswell added some frags with epoxy, at this time my skimmer was skimming like crazy (Btw its a octopus ps 200). So much that I had to turn it off. Then I was playing with it and the riser was all the way down, but skimm was still filling up cup immediately with pure water.
So I put my hand over the water intake part in the pump and the water level in the cup goes down, (ok pretty obvious). I then put a piece of sponge that was in an old overflow over the intake part and it had the same effect has my hand. This was good for moment because now water level was stable.
(Contemplation point) I realized it was skimming better darker thicker skimmate as a result of this water obstruction. I also noticed more of a sucking sound from the venturi even though its silenced.
My theory is by slightly decreasing the waterflow through a porous obstruction, you increase the pull on the venturi by creating a stronger vacum. I believe the pump is still pulling the same but now the obstruction in water is causing the extra pull to be more air, resulting in better skimmate. Its been going like this for a few days and by far the darkest thickest skim to date.
