I'm thinking or ordering a new glass cages 95 wide (48x24x17) and am trying to plan out the overflow box location and design.

What do you think of the following?

http://glass-holes.com/product.sc?categoryId=2&productId=44

I was thinking of having glass cages drill holes for two 2" bulkheads and make a box with the same dimensions as above or just order the box from glassholes.com and have glass cages just drill the holes.

I can use the sequence dart that I already have.

The cutoff for the order for glass cages unfortunately is today but I think they come to Westchester every month

The 150 will be on sale. That's another thread......

If possible, I would do external overflows. I have them on my current tank, and they really are worth the extra expense.

IF you can't do external, I would put the overflows in the corners. That way you don't have a box sitting in the middle of your tank taking up valuable real estate.

I still have it.......Poor planning on my part since when I was finishing my basement I signed off on having a 40" high stand.

I just can't see myself continuously getting on a step ladder. Plus I would like a little more room to work with on hanging the metal halide fixture.

Because of my ductwork I only have 3" of hanging height after subtracting for the height of the fixture.

A 17" high tank will give me 10" to work with.

Of course, I could chop the stand by about 6-7" and keep the tank

Going back to the 95.....

I think it's better to have the holes for the drains on the back side instead of the bottom.

Do you think having 2 2" bulkheads for drains drilled for the back with a sequence dart for return would be too much flow?

Or would you have 2 1.5' bulkheads and run it with the snapper?

I was thinking of coming over the top for the return

thinking about using this overflow box on the tank

Thinking of using the glass-holes overflow box with 2 2" bulkheads for drains with a reeflo snapper.

Has anyone used this product before or any of their other overflow boxes?

Talked to Mike at the company and he told me that there were a few MR members that have.

Please chime in if you have this product.

Ernie,
I have two of their tanks, one that I ordered in 2005 (120g 3-sided low iron glass, they do not use ppg starfire brand glass) and House's 180g front LIG tank.

Silicone job is sloppy but the worse part is that they have no idea on how to assemble a tank in reference to "wet side" of glass.
What happens is that glass has a side which will pit in saltwater if assembled wrong. When cali-reef spoke to the owner regarding this subject (ordered a pane of glass from them), he had no clue.

Both my tanks have panes of LIG glass assembled with the wrong side of the pane facing out/in. I have seen the pitting start.

Do a search on RC about glass cages and pitting.

You just bought the biggest POS custom tank you can :lol2:..

Their tanks are CHEAP for a reason.

I bet $5 you'll will not get the tank the exact way you ordered it.

You will need to order a acrylic cover for the overflow box. Then you need to get someone to cut new slots in them inorder to drain correctly.

I've heard if you order with blacks silicone it comes in looking a bit better. I own the 24" rimless tank that is pictured on their website, and lets just say it looks nice enough but I went with someone else for my next tank. These guys certainly dont know how to measure.
