Has anyone used?? Island Aquarium

Has anyone used island aquarium on utica ave in brooklyn I was looking at the tanks they have a some nice things I was thinking of getting a tank from them and wanted to know if any has their tank setups and how good they are.....

did you buy a full kit?? how was the skimmer and water movement?

I built the corner box they just drilled it
the only thing I don't like is the full glass canopy
they wouldn't warranty the tank with out it
well made tank silicone work was OK much cleaner than glass cages
I think I paid around 700 for the tank

i never heard of anyone having problems with there tanks, there silicone work is sloppy IMO. world class aquarium is near thousand island, i would check them out, WCA is probably more expensive but they make a good, clean tank.

Be careful with Island. I used to stop in there and bought some FW at times. I had a friend who bought a lot of SW but then stopped after a bad incident. They often have nice fish and their aquariums look good but their prices tend to be high. What turned me off though was the rudeness and lack of any concept of customer satisfaction/support from them.

I'd bet you'll pay almost double for the same size tank @WCA
or at least close to it

I bought my tank a while ago and the only glitch was the inability to communicate and that was limited to the Asian woman at the counter she had very little English skills other than that there was no problem.

My vocabulary is very limited when it comes to describing staff at this store. They are RUDE, RUDE & RUDE

I was recently trying to get some T5s from them so I call in and they have it. I stop by to pick them up and make a joke that these are some generic brand and if she offered a discount if I purchased 4. She said "We don't make money on them" & "you don't have to buy here". I listened ....and she lost a sale and a customer.

Come on, this is the most ridiculous overstatement I have ever heard. If you wouldn't make money on the stuff you sell you would be OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!

I work for import/export company and we bring stuff from ASIA all the time. I also do a little business selling (imported from china) stuff. The stuff there is so cheap that you'll still be able to make money even if you give it away....if you get my drift.

If you are going to get one local I'd check out World Class Aquarium. You get what you pay for.

Nick are you on crack? You'll spend anything when it comes to your tank to get the best but when it comes to the actual tank you skimp? IMO the tank is the single most important piece of equipment you have. After all if a pump dies that sucks but if your tank fails.......it's a home owner's insurance claim.

World Class, while I'm not the biggest fan has been building tanks for 20 years. They've done some HUGE tanks and while their prices aren't great you can't compare them to thousand island. It would be like comparing bubble king to ASM. Nick you don't use an ASM skimmer do you?

Fritz - You're wrong. Its not a homeowner's claim. Its a your Sh!t out of Luck claim since homeowner's insurance wont cover anything that was under your control at least from what I was told by the agent.
