hiya folks..

whats the best way to test for leaks?

i was thinking of filling this bad boy 1/2 way up and adding some food coloring..

is this the prefered method?


also -- Overdriven Normal Output Flourescent lighting.. again I'm trying to be a saltwater guy on a shoe string budget :D

If your looking for leaks you need to fill the tank all the way up. Some tanks will not start to leak unless they're filled, you need to put the full weight and pressure on the seams of the tank. As far as "coloring the water" you really don't need to do this, just look for leaks which will most likely be either from the seams on the bottom or the tops of corners.

Actually sometimes the tank will leak right away so you'll need either a pump or other means to get the water out fast before it leaks all over the place.

gotcha - i'll do it outside hopefully it wont leak that fast


the seams on the bottom have discolored from black to rusty color.. i just hope it hold water.
