I am looking to replace my HOB Skimmer because I'll be starting a new sump/wet/dry filter. I would like to get some input from people w/ experience on different kinds of skimmers. The tank is a 72gallon bow.
Thanks for your imput.

I'm interested in the Kent Nautilus TE

Has there ever been any side by side tests? Pick the 5 or 10 most popular models, put them all in the same body of water at the same time, and see which one produces the most in the shortest time... would that work?

rgun, there is another thread where we discussed a scientific way of testing skimmers. There are a lot of variables to iron out.

I personally went the octopus route. I hear they are the best bang for the buck and near as good as the top of the line brands.

FWIW
Not that I know of but there are quite a few guys that have had many of the top rated/priced skimmers running on their systems at different times that can give accurate comparisons.
In most situations that I'm aware of, the skimmer that pulls the most amount of air will skim the best. An air flow meter is a good piece of equipment to have for testing different skimmers and to let you know when it maybe time for you to clean your skimmer because of a decrease in air production.
