How often should we be feeding these little guys? Every day or is that too much?

Also, I was reading the instructions on the phyto bottle and they tell us that we should be using X amount every other day, otherwise don't bother: lesser amounts or if used less frequently will bring no results. I'm wondering if this is really true or if they're just trying to get us to keep buying the stuff, which isn't cheap! :tired:

use a cup and scoop out the clam with some water in the cup, put some phyto into the cup until it turns green, then leave the clam eat the phyto until the water is clear again, then submerge the cup and put back the clam in the original spot. the clam should be weekly fed i remembered, but im gonna do biweekly

Thanks! I've been using Kris' suggestion of taking the top half of a bottle and putting it over the Clam in the tank. Then injecting some phyto into the hole on top and screwing the cap on. This way it has a chance to eat up without the phyto dispersing throughout the tank. I just wasn't sure how often to feed it. :approve:

So, my Clam hasn't really opened fully. It's only opened a bit, I can see the tips of its mantle. It has, however, moved 45 degrees on the rock I have it on. It used to be vertical to me, now it's horizontal. I've moved it back to vertical since I figure it was adjusting itself on the rock, not hiding from me. :bigeyes2: I'm feeding it phyto and there's enough light as its sitting on the bottom of the tank under a 250w MH. Is this normal??

D,

I would move it down to the bottom - you dont' waht it to get burned bu the light - keep in mind, it's ability to photosynthesize is not fully developed to a point where it can live on that alone - move it to the bottom. Make him reach for the light!!!!

I would also double check your levels - ALK, PH, No4, No3, Ammonia etc. They aren't tolerant to those (with the exception of No3, which they filter).

Hope that helps,

House
