At the time I didn't have a backup power source so the minute I saw my whole area was without power, I ran to the bait and tackle store and bought battery opperated air pumps with a bunch of batteries. They kept my reef alive for 27hrs without any losses.....many people weren't as lucky as me :(

Those were dark times. I lost most of my live stock except for some leathers, mushrooms and the indistructible damsels. Hope that never happens again!

I lost my mated clarkii clown and anenome in my nano at work.

At home this is what I did (92g corner):

I too my cordless drill (Ryobi) and put the 1" drill bit in. I then took a flat wooden spoon from my kitchen and duct taped it to the 1" drill bit. every 15 minutes I would let her rip in the tank for 3-5 minutes.

At night, I would do 10 minutes every two hours. I didn't get much sleep, but the only think I lost was one of my powder blue staghorns.

Now I own a batter operated air pump and a 1875w gas generator which can support 15amos at full load and run 6 hours on a tank of gas. It's a coleman and cost me $399. Since I have a house, it makes sense, cause now, I can hook the fish tank pump and the refrig without demage.

I spent 8 hours or so with a beer in one hand and a turkey baster in the other. THe beer was gonna go bad, and so was the tank if I didn't stir it. I got my power back around 4:30 am.

Didn't loose a thing. But I didn't have much in the tank either.
