My sea hare has eaten almost all of my nuisance algae, and I'd like to provide him with something to eat. I think Gracillaria would work well, but not one store that I can find has it in stock, and even florida-aqua-farms doesn't ship anything alive in the cold, so I'm hosed. Do any of you have some that you could part with? I'd gladly pay you and pick it up. I'd also be interested in other easy-to-eat macroalgaes.

Another option is to start a DBTC with it. I've seen other clubs that do that with nudibranches that eat aptasia, bryopsis, flatworms, etc.

It's a Dolabella auricularia, and as such should eat a wide variety of algae. I think it would probably love the ulva, which I can collect from the east river and culture easily, but it will make a mess of my tank, as I don't have a separate algae filter of refugium. I think the Gracillaria will do better. If you guys have any tips, though, I'd surely take them. The sea slug is really cool, and it keeps my nuisance algae right in check, so I'd like to make it a good home in my tank. If I can't keep it fed, I'll surely pass it on. If you want one like it, they have several at Wonderful World of Fish 'n More in Astoria.

The reefcleaners tip was a good one. I went a little wild and ordered all of these things:

1 1 Penny Macro Algae
1 Codium (Tall)
1 Green Gracilaria (Display Grade)
1 Oar Grass
3 Green/Brown Gracilaria (Refugium Grade)
5 Dwarf Planaxis
2 Zig Zag Periwinkles

thanks ecvernon

thats alot of algae. I tried to culture about 3 lbs of Gracilaria in a 24 gal, and it died in about 3 months. Gracilaria needs really strong flow and light.

e will ship you a piece that is approximately 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. The macro can grow to a size of 10 inches tall with a runner that can continue to spread the macro lengthwise.
