Peppermint Eating Zoos???

A full third of my fire and ice zoo frag was eaten today!!! I am thinking it was the peppermint shrimp, as I saw its exoskeleton nearby...like leaving behind a bloody glove! I do have a couple of misc. crabs, and blue legged hermits, but have not seen any of them picking on the zoos. Could it be the peppermint?

I feed the tank once every two or three days with cyclopeeze or brine shrimp and garlic- should I be feeding more often so that whatever is eating my zoos isn't so hungry for zoo flesh??

You are sure you have a peppermint? camel backs looks like peppermints but likes to eat soft corals, especially zoas.

are you sure they are peppermints and not camel backs they look very close and often mistaken,
if they are camelbacks for sure they were chowing down on your zoos

Where do camel backs come from (I don't see this guy often- well, not at all actually). I received 2 Peppermints (I know they were peps, since they didn't have those protruding blue eyes like camels)- but I also know I had one hitch hiker shrimp that I never got a good glimpse of- looked like a peppermint but I'm not sure since it hid as soon as I turned on the lights. My rock came from the Florida Keys.

Two of the 3 shrimp are dead- one eaten by my anenome, the other died for no reason that I could tell a few weeks ago and was stuck to the intake of a powerhead. That leaves one, whose identity is unknown...

What should I try to get it out, or at least trap it? A water bottle trap w/ some shimp on the bottom? Thanks!

mason jar trap cut a soda bottle top off inver it put mason jar ring on and throw soem bait and wait

I think camels do come from the florida region

Hi, I am a new member to this board and I have had this problem in the past In my case it was the pair of peppermint shrimp I had, which basically destroyed a colony of zoo's. I increased feeding times which stopped them from destroying my other colonies. Hope this helps.

I have a pair of peps for 8 months now. They seem to be peaceful citizens, showing up right after lights are off.

ive had peps since i first got into reef tanks never notice them ever do anything like that before

1st pic is a pepperment ,
2cd is a camel back ,,notice the hump on the camel back ,they look alike but the hump is the diff ,,hope it helps you
