skimmer advice-octopus extreme 160 vs. turboflotor multi

does anyone have any experience with the octopus extreme 160? is it a good skimmer? i was using a urboflotor multi on my 90 and decided to upgrade.

I have the Octopus extreme 160 on my 55 right now. I love it and plus now that i upgraded the pin wheel to the ATB purple pinwheel i really really love it .

I have a 160 on my 125 and it works great. I did all the monster skimmers in small tanks and it really is overkill. This is a great small footprint skimmer and dont think for the size and price can be beaten at the moment

I'm still using my turboflotor on my 120 and it is working just as good as ever. I switched it over to my 120 fowlr when I got a Euroreef 80 for my 155 reef. They both pull the same amount of skimmate. I run the turbo with an Oceanrunner PH2500 pump. I love how easy it is to dial in, clean not to mention it's versatility hang on sump, hang on tank or in sump.

I got the large ppw. Never did mesh cus i dont want to keep an eye on it hehe.

just turned it on for the 1st time. why does it make so much noise??? anything to do about that?

Your mesh is probably not fitting very well, you may have to trim it some or tie it better.

are you talking about the mesh or ppw? if mesh idk never did mesh. But if ppw, just make sure that the pinwheel is securely on the impeller. my pump makes a lil nosie at start up too but stops after a couple of seconds.
