Wrong. While the Co2 or "Foam" type extinguishers are better than water for some types of fires, electricity may still conducted through it therefore you should have a dry powder extinguisher on hand for all types of fires with the exception of magnesium which requires a special type of extinguisher. Either way your tank will be toast.

You would hope that a person doesn't have enough magnesium close to a fire to ignite. That would be a sad situation that would extend very quickly to lower floors.

thanks for correcting me i should have elaborated...

the type of extingisher u need for electrical fires are called CLASS C .... IN THE USA.

it has a substance called PKP or purple-k and is mainly used for flammable liquid fires but it has proven effective against electrical fires.

haylon gas extingisher works all fires.

Halon. And it doesn't work against many chemical fires (specifically, exothermic reactions that generate their own oxidizers, like pyrotechnics and such.) Or thermite. But then, there's not much that works on thermite. Though halon will generally prevent the fire from spreading to things that can't burn without oxygen.

On the other hand, when you clear the halon, the things that've been heated by whatever's burning can sponaneously catch fire as the level of O2 in the air rises.
