Speed Up Algae Growth?

Ok question,
Tank is going through somewhat of a mini cycle since i transfered from my 30g to the 65g its been about 3 weeks and havent seen any signs of algae growth on glass or rocks etc....
Have Weiss Booster, says for cycling add for 3 days straight, or
established aqauriums add capful 1once a week.....

what to do? ......

Why would you want algae growth on the glass and rocks, are you talking about coraline algae?

I know getting impatient but stll is this feesable or a stupid idea?
Just some signs of a stable environment thats what i am looking for.....

3 weeks and nothing, how long do i wait here, see my 30g went so fast before i knew it i had a huge colt and some nice shiny zoos!!!! I miss those days lol .....

Or you could just crank your heater way up and speed the tanks metabolism. Not that I'd do that, but you could. If you're talking about coraline, try boosting cal or alk, and check your ph.

Is that why corallines growing so quick in my nano'??? Because of the heat?!? Its considerably hotter than the 65g, never thought about that.

What kind of algae are you talkin about??? Coralline???

Just looking for signs of anything growing, coraline, green algae on rocks etc...i have rocks with purple coraline already on it from my previous tank as well as coraline all over the back of the tank from the previous owner but still no signs of anything new since the upgrade.....only some small brown cyano on the sand and powerheads, which makes me think goin through a small cycle....

Just give it time. It should come in sooner or later. My corallines just starting to grow in my 65g after about 2-3 months. Guess it needed time to get stable??

BTW...dont hope for the green stuff..you might get it and it might grow with a passion and that wouldnt be good..happened to me before :lol: :banghead:

Brown algae on the sand is not a sign of a cycle; elevated ammonia and nitrite levels are. Where are those levels at after testing?

i hope the only algae your talking about is coralline algae the other stuff sucks. battling the other brown algae with snails and turbo snails. its not that bad as of now. but at least i no my tank is doing great... give it time hopefully u only see coralline algae being developed.. good luck

if you have all your tank specs in check with the right CA you could have coralline algae in about a month thats how long it took me....

Chris,

Take your time. If you have cyano on your sand, you might have too much nutrient or not enough flow. On the other hand, if it's brown diatoms on the sand, you're beginning to get nitrates. Patience, patience, let it all stabilze.

Yeah Chris Listen! Leave your tank alone let it stabilize, pretty soon it will look like the 30 gal but much better!

You want algae?? Turn your skimmer off and load the tank up with fish, they will die pretty quick but leave them in the tank. All the bio mass will cause the algae to bloom.

Just kidding .. If you can't wait, you should probably pick a different hobby.
