The only way I was able to control it was by taking out any pieces of rock that I can and removing them out of the water. When this stuff takes off, it's a nightmare. It started growing on my Seios and clam shells but these were the easy part cause I was able to pull them out and take off the bubble algae. Rocks that were movable was also taken out of the water and done the same way.
Also put a Phosban reactor on line to take out as much Po4 as possible even though my test kit read zero. (but we all know that there is still Po4 in the water)
By doing all this, I would say that it's under control but not totally gone. Also the emerald crab didn't do much and I heard they sometimes like to munch on zoos.

To think that this all started when I bought some clams from a guy upstate and the clams had some bubble algae on the shells.
(I scrubbed them off before I put them in my tank but they took off like a rocket).

That's also why I said to someone on this forum who wanted $4 a lb for live rock covered in valonia that I wouldn't take it if you gave it to me for free.

I had some in my tank that I bought from Jackson?s friend, but the sailfin tang I got from Kasei ate them all. They never returned after that. The tang is large enough to eat each bubble in 1 bite, opposed to an emerald crab which will pop the bubbles and help release the spores into your tank. Hope this helps...

Haven't you seen him before? I think he's about 4-5 inches long. My hippo and kole tang didn't touch that stuff either. But for some reason the sailfin loves it...

BTW are you going to House's on Sunday?

Just buy some mithrax crabs and let them go to work. Even if the crabs pop them, they will continue to work on the new baby valonias.
