Well, let's start at the top!... Josh and Turan, thank you again for your hospitality at the holiday party -- hope the two of you are getting enough sleep these days! I told you life would never be the same when they came home. Seriously, all my best to you both and your new family.
Now I'll back up to the Fall Swap Meet, 12/6....
To Kathy C., it was so nice to meet you -- it was good to have *someone* to say hi to that day. I was extremely *overwhelmed* by the goings on! We have lots of mutual friends: Harry, Jeff, Ed, Pat and Ken, and no doubt a few more, as well. I was totally bummed when I learned about the program you gave at NCAS, and I *missed* it -- damn.
A big thank you to the young man (I *think* it might have been Kris?) at the "beginners table" who selected five really terrific easy corals for me. As mentioned in my recent intro post, I've had mixed success with them -- two growing like crazy, one so-so, and two just hanging in there. But at least they're *all* still alive!!!
Thanks to my fellow "Educator," for donating the xenia I got -- I absolutely love the stuff! Will definitely donate back several frags of it to the Spring Meet.
And to James of Acan Lighting for donating the mushroom ricordia I got -- also growing well enough for me to give some back. Unfortunately, the other three corals I got at the meet had no identifying information on the bags so I don't know who to thank.
Thanks to some guy in the crowd who told me the difference between LPS and SPS! LOL Dat's what I'm talkin' about!... EVERYONE was just super friendly and willing to help a guy with a dumb question!!!
And even waiting on line in the parking garage... the guy who won the Vortech in the raffle, didn't catch your name, but thank you for your advice and help while standing in line!
Now, back again to the holiday party, 12/18/09, at Thane's fabulous Play -- great food, great ambiance; if I was younger, er... and single... I'd be there every weekend. What a great time I had with fellow MR bowlers!!! LOL Hey, Thane... y'gotta oil those lanes every so often! It was so funny! Us, uh, "serious" bowlers had to aim for the ten pin to get anywhere near the head pin! I never saw so many gutter balls!!!!! ROTFL Anyway, thank you to the two Davids (dace and davidl919) for a lotta laughs that night; and, Jim (of sw critters), and Don and Jesus (jhov and skene). Had a great time with all of y'all.
And just two more... Mike (marrone) for steering me to a 65g tank for sale; and Keith, who, even though I didn't buy his tank, freely gave of his time explaining his methods and materials to me.
All I can say is, what a great group of people you are here on Manhattan Reefs!
George
