Painting the back of my tank...

I am upgrading to a 75 and I want to paint the back blue. I currently have black on my tank and I think the blue is MUCH brighter...what is a good shade? I just can't decide.

go to home depot or lowes.. get a bunch of blue color tags and tape them up to the back of your tank under the lighting and see what you like..

I will have to go back and get a sky blue color. I think the colors I picked out were too dark. And I can just use regular paint right? I used spray paint for my 55.

yes with a roller..they make paint theat will stick better to plastics and glass.. i forget the name brand.. then they will mix the color.... i rolled mine black.. nice and easy.

Does anyone ever put mirrors on the back of the tank?
I had a 29 mirror back when I first started insalt water. I liked it.
It would reflect a good portion of light back also.

never had a mirror but i did have a chrome background. looked exactally like a mirror effect. it was on the back of a blue background cover. i used the chrome and it was kinda cool because at certain angles i can see behind my live rock. worked good for finding missing fish that hide alot but honestly....after i changed it back to black i liked it better. looked cool with chrome and all, but the black just looked so much more professional and calming. i look at my tank to calm down and relax. chrome was too loud. i tried dark blue as well on a smaller tank... and wish i went lighter. so that sky blue or ocean blue might be your best choice! dark blue looked kinda ...ehhh....would of been better with a aggressive tank maybe, not reef. good luck with it though!

I wouldn't paint. I'd just get like a vinyl overlay or a background. Saves you the trouble and you can always change it

I just moved into a house and I painted my room Ocean Tropic blue, Behr makes it. It's a really nice shade. I might paint the back of my 220 with the paint I have left over. You should take a look at it and see if you like it

Blue is nice if you clean the back pane routinely. Black gives you the perception of depth.

yeah I have black on my 55, and it looks ok. The blue looks so much brighter to me. It's not black enough for me. If that makes any sense.

Blue looks bad when you have black overflows, IMO.

Just throwing that out there. Not sure if your next tank is reef ready or not.
