ok here is my dilemma. the holes drilled on my tank is 1 3/4 and 1 1/2. with regular schedule 40 bulkheads it means 1" drain and 3/4" return. but i don't want the cheesy sch 40 because they're easy to break. sch 80 dont have the size for the hole. even if they do, the actualy drain is reduced. any suggestions on how to solve this? thanks

bulk heads

Go to fishasylum.com $2.99 a piece.
You really shouldn't have to over tighten bulkheads.
If your worried about them leaking just smear a
little silicone on the rubber gasket and make all surfaces are clean.

Ronen,

i called them already. the problem is that the sch 80 bulkhead need different hole sizes. i cant drill the holes any bigger because it came from factory drilled with temper glass. if i get the sch 80 that fits in the hole, the drain will be less than 1" and return will be less than 3/4". see my problem? help plumbing master!

i thought putting silicone on it is actually bad for the gasket. it makes the gasket weak no?
I never had a prob with the blukhead ,You dont need to put anything on them ,Just get the heavy dudy one ,you will be fine
to tighten up bulkheads ,should be hand tighten them and them witha (chanel Lock) Plumbers pilers a very little turn ,Maybe half a turn
