Vodka dosing

After speaking with a fellow MR member and researching on line I've decided to try vodka dosing on my tank
Want to hear peopls experinces wit it

do not over dose you will cause algie problems and start off slow also watch for alot of algie build up if you have that then slow down the dosing and dont use flavored vodka.

Please read more in-depth before dosing. 1mL for 34g, not even taking displacement into account, is way too much.

If we assume 25g water volume after displacement, the articles indicates you should be starting with 0.1mL daily.

+1 Wow....did you even read about Vodka dosing. Why would you start with 1ml on 34 galloms!!!! Jeez Read the article before starting. I have been dosing for a long time and like it. Start very slow...I even recomend less than the starting dose. It will take some time but patience is a virtue...:splitspin

I. Wouldn't do it. I did vodka dosing for 6m and did more harm then good. You can carbon dosing with bright well or Zoe products. That's the safest way you can go.

Ok Zoe's bleached leathers never opened po4 were unstable all the time and followed the dosing chart for my tank.

If you aren't an experienced reef keeper ( I don't know if you are or not) I wouldn't dose anything except Ca. and Alk.. Instead, I'd get in the habit of regular water changes and good old fashioned sound husbandry. Get the basics under your belt --and I mean for more than a year or two ---learn your system and it's inhabitant's needs and then you can start messing around with advanced techniques like carbon dosing and amino supplementation etc.

You dont eliminate them. I was able to cut back gfo quite a bit but not eliminate it. Carbon I use 24/7....

I started this thread to learn I've been at this for a year in July so I have the basics down evry time I see a thread there is always a few of the experts out there telling u why u r wrong and then they tell u how great there system is and then there is the " just Learn the basics of good reef keeping husbandry" or whatever

I miss read 1 and .1 so I am so happy I posted this thread b4 trying it out
But I'm still gonna give it a go I'll keep u all posted

Zoevita is a carbon dosing method that uses stone in a reactor its a 4part system that make your tank get ultra low nutrient system. And feed your corals. . If you what to now more about it go to zoevit.com

One thing about Vodka dosing is that it has mixed results in a DSB ( deep sand bed).

Did you already try a phosban reactor. This is a much safer approach.

Vodka dosing works well, but you can easily dose wrong and hurt your reef.

You need an excellent skimmer, lots of flow and have to go very slowly. You also can not stop cold turkey.
