Well, I feel it is time to say goodbye. My tank recently crashed as everyone knows. I lost everything except for four fish. I jsut lost my very first saltwater fish. This hobby has brought me nothing but hardeache and empty pockets. I am devastated over this but I can't take more expenses combined with the death of beautiful creatures.

Sorry for your loss!

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Keep your head up because most of us have been there before. You may just need to step back for a minute dust yourself off and get back in the saddle.

Good Luck :fish:

Jarrett,

My tank looks disgusting, I need all new equipment, and I have no animals left not to mention a parent that wants it over because of all the stress and money associated with it. What is the point of owning a saltwater tank if it looks ugly and everything dies?

I lost everything myself but I am going to start itup again. My problem was I was swapping tanks too fast. If you decide to do it again do alot of planning and take it slow, get the biggest tank you can get and sell or trade what you have until you get what is needed. Had I started with the 180 I have now I would have saved a ton of cash and would be enjoying my tank now instead of building it.

Dude, I cracked my 1st tank a week after I got it and almost got sued by the tenant downstairs bc of all the water I sent her. Then I chipped my current tank (3rd) bringing it home and am still trying to find a way to set it all up right. But you're right, if you reap no enjoyment and only heartache, then why do it?

Ok here is my advice, take it or leave it. Get an all in one tank. Sell everything you have now that will not fit in the nano. Be happy with small water changes and a nice little tank until you are able to set up a bigger system. You may find that you like the all in one quite a bit.

Plus you might be able to save some of the things you have now and put them in a nano tank.

Jcolon, you are a good kid. Take a breath and reassess the situation. Perhaps you need to wait a little until you get a decent source of income (or you can convince your parents that it is a rewarding hobby and helps you grow and learn as you become a valuable contributing member to society at large) and come back strong. Don't quit whatever you do... especially if your parents are the ones who want you to! Take a break but don't quit.

Well we all know by now you need deep pockets in any hobby.Times are hard and everything will come to an end if you like it or not.If anyone decide to quit the hobby i would not blame them at all. If i had a crash right now i don't think i would continue. Yes i love the hobby but there are more important things i could be doing with my money these days.Don't feel bad man ,save your money take a vacation once in a while with the money you'll save you might have more pleasurable memories.
