I think one of my zoa colonies is infected. It suddenly looks like its struggling to open up and the closed polyps are fully closed with some brown stuff over the polyp head, any idea on how to fix this?

I've noticed polyps slowly vanishing, at first i thought my turbo snails ate them as it hovered it for so long that it never got off it.:irked:

Check for zoa eating nudibranch... very hard to see as they look like the fringe skirt of a zoa polyp. They also turn the same color as the zoa they eat. Best way to determine is right before your lights turn on.. the polyps will be closed. Be there when the lights turn on to see if anything is crawling on the zoa itself. What you said about zoa's missing is an indicator of this pest. Another indicator is the fringe skirt looks like someone has been eating it. Use a magnifying lens to determine better and faster. 99 cents at a store.

use a syringe and suck them up, or you can get a a container and fill with tank water and place the zoa frag upside down and shake the colony untill the nudibrach comes off. It will look like a piece of debris floating around the container. One it stops you'll notice it attach itself like a small snail and start crawling around.

Here's a pic in a thread i started.
