Strontium??

Just wanted to know how many reefers test for Strontium? and how many actually does it?

I don't test for it but I try to dose Kent Marine Strontium and Molybdenum once a week.

i never heard of Strontium!? i am assuming levels should maintain with weekly water changes.. i never dose anything without testing first.

yeah supposedly it's used by hard corals so they have better adhesion to their skeleton

Well to be honest I'm not really sure, but I have a 210G+120Gsump+20G+30G all running together and I usually dose for about 200-250 gallons of water so I don't think I add excess amounts of it

o ok, i was thinking about dosing my tank with it, but i want to get the test kit first

I only test for it every few months ..just to check the level..if it's low I'll dose.

do you does kalk? if so you can use brightwell kalk+2 it has strontium in it i use the brightwell kalk+2 and their a and b along with many other things from brightwell and i have great results knock on wood lol try it out

i used to dose it..until i read that threat that talks about whats really needed and whats not..and also..if you dont test it..dont dose it..

yeah man good stuff its all in proper ratio so the way i figure if all is right ur mag, cal and alk levels ur strontium should be used at the right rate because its not like u can remove the strontium from the powder does that make sence if u add strontium alone i can see how u could add too much or too little does that make sence it works well for me let me know how you like it

Unless you have a full blown SPS/LPS tank and its growing like crazy you don't need to be dosing strontium. Your weekly water changes will take care of everything.

Get a test kit before dosing anything. You will see for yourself.

When I first started I was told to add nano reef a And b Kent follow the daily dosing which I did I started haveing issues with my lps not opening I bought a test kit for cal and mag and ph they where all very high
Just water changes from then on everything was on the $

i do have to agree testing is needed to find where your levels are at and how much your tank consumes daily and weekly we all know consistant parameters is what makes a reef tank thrive i would still try the kalk+2
