Deltec ap600: $350 a good price?

I'm curious, is this a good price? Deltec's website has it listed for more brand new...

this one is 9 months old...

What do you all think?
Yes or no?

Thanks
Andre

Deltec lists it for $585. So that is an excellent price. Just make sure that it is a US model and not a European one. And make sure that everything is in tact. Not cracked etc. Go for it.:) :D

Yes? Any difference between the 2 models?
Seller tells me no cracks, perfect shape...
Does age of skimmer really matter? I guess for the aquabee pump....

Thanks

The main difference is the pump voltage and hertz. Although the voltage issue is easily solved the frequency issue is not. The pumps will not function properly.
The US is 110/120 @ 60hz
Europe 220/240 @ 50hz

9 months for a skimmer is very young. The aquabee pumps really kick a$$!!! It will take several years more for it to break.

Aquabee =energyefficient + quiet + powerful. Basically they are modified Eheim pumps. The part of the pump that Deltec modifies is basically the needle wheel.

if you get converter isn't it the same thing just cheaper?

Most converters will take care of the voltage and not the frequency. You should PM FRY, he can tell you in more detail. Besides why would you want yet another huuge and heavy piece of equipment. It works fine for some appliances but for electric motors it does not function properly.

Cycles - 50 Hz vs. 60 Hz
North American 110-120 volt electricity is generated at 60 Hz. (Cycles) Alternating Current. Most foreign 220-240 volt electricity is generated at 50 Hz. (Cycles) Alternating Current. This cycle difference will cause analog clocks and timing circuits that use Alternating Current as a timing base to keep incorrect time. Most modern electronic equipment including battery chargers, computers, printers, stereos, tape and CD players, VCR/DVD players, etc. will not be affected by the difference in cycles. IMPORTANT: Voltage converters and transformers do not convert cycles.

Hey rich...
now you are worrying me a bit... everyone seems to agree deltec's are top skimmers. I wish your awesome skimmer thread had those ap600's in action.
Seriously, aquabee must be a good pump right? or is it the other factors that make the deltec top notch?
Dre

ps , frags doing well! thanks
