I found a beautiful Black Tang for sale tonight, Perfect size and everything. It is about 4 inches long and was eating everything. To bad I'm not ready for this guy. I will post up some pics in a few. It is at Absolutely Fish with about a dozen other rare fish.

there's no need to make fun of an overpriced fish. i'm sure the price will drop if no one buys it, thus the supply/demand concept.

Actually you're wrong... I remember long time ago black tangs was available in petsolutions or dr foster and smith for about $200-$300
But it was 7 maybe 8 years ago
Now you have to pay $800 and up
One member on reefcentral was selling his 4" big black tang about month back for $450 picked up from albany ;)

yup.. pm me if interested i don't want to hijack the thread.

Sorry Jaa
It's cool, I bought my Black Tang in 1995 at an LFS, that I will not mention for 50 bucks. At that time it was thought to be a mutated yellow tang by the LFS. Needless to sy I took it home and did some research and that's when I found out that there were actual black tangs and they were their own species. And remember 1995 was right around the start up of the internet lol. I'm looking to get another one, just not at 800.

My goodness... 50 bucks in 1995... what local fish store was that ima call the owner and tell on you...lol
It was animals and things in Woodbridge when they actually had good livestock, I also got a hippo from there for 3.99 sold to me as a yellow tail damsel. Although I knew exactly what it was.

blueink, you call it "making fun"? Hugh?? I think we have a right to say that is a crazy, ridiculous, rip off price. Why not??? It's not making fun, it's talking about what is fair and what is taking advantage of hobbyists, IMO.
