Granite..

I'm thinking about doing a granite top to my new stand, but know almost nothing about granite .

Where is a good spot to buy (besides the big-box places) and what specifically should I look for? Any other tips or tricks? Cautions?

When we did our floors and countertops, we went to College Point in Queens. There is a whole area (a few blocks) that has granite/kitchen/bathroom supplies.

...just got 45 sq ft of granite for my kitchen....Napoli in Seaford on Merrick Ave had the best prices per sq ft, edging etc....pick your slab in back and they cut it right on premis too..turn around is less than a week from template to install.
