How often do you guys 'turky baste the hell out of' your tank? I've read its good to create a good 'storm' once in a while to dislodge detrius, etc.

Do you do it to the sand bed too? I guess corals in the wild would be used to them... and then I would just blow off the corals after the debris have settled, right?

doing that in the sand would not be a good idea due to all the bad stuff thats in the sand.. it would release alot of harmful toxins.. i dont think disturbing the sand that much is such a great idea.. maybe someone has a different opinion..

i do this in my bb refugium/sump every other day to feed my tank. Most of the particles would count for phytoplankton, and its only decaying plant matter. Prob the same stuff in Marine Snow. Seems to be working well.

I usually blow my rocks off with a powerhead 2-3 times per week. For some reason all the corals extent their polyps more when I do this.....probably feeding?

ok- i guess i'll stick to the rocks then! how about stirring the sand bed? Mine is about 2-3"- i've read pros and cons on it too...
dont disrupt a lot of your sand all at once. if you want to, just stir up a small teeny-tiny section at most. that small disruption will be able to be handled by your system, while a large disruption could potentialy crash the system.
