auto top off question..

hi guys.. i am getting this auto top off in a trade..

has anybody heard of it..i have heard that the suction cup needs to be glue on so it doesn't slip...also float switches need to be cleaned...so they don't stick how can that be done?.. Also how can i make a snail guard for this guy..? thnxs.

snail guard is simply a plastic cup that fits over the float switch, drilled with holes to let water through but no snails.

i just clean mine by hand- but make sure to turn it off when you do (I forget sometimes...)

how? like what do i have to do? can i dip it in vinegar solution? where should i clean?

well i just clean off my algae by hand, by turning it off and taking off the snail guard - i might buy a tooth brush for it now that i think of it...

mine is glued to the rim of my tank- so i can't take it off easily to to dip it, though that would might be a good idea. I really need to get a better one with a dual float switch- i'm worried about mine sticking and overflowing my tank!
