Hey well as alot of u already kno I have moved to a new location up in queens just finish my 125 gal upgrade... Witch is now cycleing. Had my Mh lights on shineing threw the window.... And I guess one of the nabors saw it. He ringed my bell so I went down he introduced his self to me and asked me if I was into saltwater keeping I told him yea we talked for a while then he said he had a 3200 gal tank i was like wow seriously yea but guess what it's empty and he offered it to me for free.. I went to go see it this tank is a monster.... Brings skimmer lights a big diy heater.... Now I have a shed ava that would fit that tank with no problem. But would like to ask a few questions...

I am not plaining on doing coral or anything....
Rocks he has a bunch of dry rock in the tank..

I would like to know how much would this tank run me yearly to keep up and running it's gonna be a fish only tank.?????? Or should I just leave this tank alone and pass this offer... What do u say...

I say take the tank and give it to me :wink1:

I mean, it depends on what kind of circulation system you want to use and lighting. Besides electricity, water changes, heating, cooling and so forth are going to be quite expensive. But expensive is relative to the individual. My guess is it will cost you a few hundred a month with a basic system. Top off would be a pain AND if you run this in a house you have to have some type of ventilation or heavy di-humidifying. You can easily ruin a room with that much water. I've seen it happen before. A guy with a 2000 gallon had to re-model his home because of the humidity.

Wouldn't moving a tank that size be...challenging?
Assuming it would need to be dismantled to be moved, and as Dom said expensive to run, salt along would cost you $100/month easily. I also wouldn't envy your water bills.

Something that size belongs in an aquarium or at a place like MA.

Not to sure on the dimentions... Yes would be tricky to move but not impossible lol.... Also I wouldn't be running the tank of ro water since I kno the water bill will be up there. Would have to be straight tap water....The tank isn't going no where so am not in a rush wanna get some input b4 I jump into something I can't afford or care for....

I've never seen a 3000 gallon tank that is not built on site (glass), so it might be likely that it has to be dismantled before moving, let alone fit out the door.

Perhaps if its acrylic, you could probably get enough men to lift it, but I wouldn't count on it if its glass

Your going to need some type of crane to move a tank that big, especially if it's glass...

And it will cost you a good amount of money to run a 3000gallon, big heater, big pumps, big lights, big skimmer = a ton of watts which will equal a big monthly blll! And a tank like that could probably evap around 30-40 gallons a day easy..

He wants to give this away?

I guess anyone in the market for this kind of system does not really want to buy a used tank. I dont know many people outside of a LFS that would be able to handle this tank but it is an addictive thought.

pump, skimmer and lights and do a local fish tank with fish from the shores of newyork, you wont need a heater then.i wouldnt think a local fish tank would run that much.all you would need is PC bulbs from HD and you can use straight tap water.

You could get a whale, not a big whale but maybe a pygmy sperm whale. that would be the best predator tank anywhere. ..

feed him big local squid ,

and a sea turtle

that you could ride on

pics plz
