What does Orp stand for and what is the Orp level one can have? I got myself a controller and it has a Orp Probe to it so i was wondering what its needed for and how does the orp balance out on a reef aquarium?

ORP (oxidation reduction potential ) used to be used as a measure of water purity and we used it for that reason. That is what an ORP controller does, it measures the ORP and turns on your ozonizer. An ozonizer injects an oxidizer (ozone gas) into the water to raise it's oxidation reduction potential. This simply means that the water has an easier time reducing or making less toxic chemicals of decomposition.
I still use Ozone as it has been on my tank for decades and the tank is doing well so I figure, why stop now. If it really does any good, I have no Idea because I never ran the tank without ozone. My ORP reading right now is 293. It varies to almost 400 and down to 200. Again I don't think it means much but it is interesting.

My tank also stays around 300.
I like using ozone it clears up the water similar to carbon.

My tank usually around 400 but when feeding heavy it drops close to 250

There is no real answer to that. But higher would be better. I can tell if something died by the ORP reading or if I fed too much but I don't really look at the readings much. I know that if I don't feed for a day or two the ORP goes up, sometimes to 400.
