Hey Im looking for feedback and on rimless aquariums. I am thinking of having a rimless 6'x30"x30" built by miracles in glass and just wanted to see if anyone has experience with these designs. I know its a newer trend in the hobby but maybe some of you have had, or know someone who has, a rimless for a few years and can tell me yeah its great or no it stinks and the seam burst and spilled 300 gallons all over!

So in short anyone have experience good or bad with rimless, how long have you had it, who made it, can you sleep at night knowing all that water pressure is on 4 little silicone seams.

Thanks!!

First, ask miracles what they think. They will guide you in the right direction.

IMO, 30" x 6' is alot without support on the glass no matter the thickness. Technically it wants to be built out of 3/4-1" glass, and at that thickness you want to go starfire which would run you about 7-10k for the tank alone. Your not going to worry about a blowout because 3/4" worth of seams is alot stronger than you might think. Your worried about the glass bending and fracturing in the middle.

I have a 57 Rimless that to me looks amazing. The thing is although all fish are jumpers you will have to stay away from the ones that are prone to jump all the time.

I also get a little buildup of salt creep around the water line. It really isn't that bad takes a few minutes to clean. Worth the look imo.

wait i have one question about these jumper fish. i know fish jump but how does that effect weather its a rimless tank or not?

its easier to put mesh over the tank when it has a rim. It looks like crap when you do it when a rimless. The whole point of rimless is that smooth minimalist look, not some ugly eggcrate or black mesh covering it. that, imo, defeats the entire purpose.
