Okay,

Getting a picture of the canopy and stand will be a little difficult this week, the canopy is in my garage but the stand is in Flushing.

A standard 180 is 72Lx24Wx24H, the stand and canopy fits over it. You will nee a van or a large SUV to haul these away.

ok so the canopy is fine for a pic, i would just like to see how hard it will be to chop it
i mean if you were going to toss it, someone might as well make some use out of it. my sister in law has a caravan so if we take out the seats it should fit

i just finished filling my tank with water. i have not been able to get ahold of my dad for the starboard, but i need a place to put my lionfish for a while. i got a sixline today to try and combat a small flatworm infestation. so far he is being a little piggy and i cannot cathc my lionfish. the sixline is pretty large so hopefully it will be ok till i can get the lion out

well, it's a no on the halides. i bought the t5 fixture from fastuno, thanks again
and will be running it on my 29. still need a hood though
only because the fixture is 24 inches and my tank is 30 and i am afraid to hang anything from my walls or ceiling, 100 year old plaster may not hold up too well so i am going to fashion something out of 2x4 for now until i get this thing supported. love the light though

wow so i typed up a huge thing, and well, too many images, so here goes again, split into two posts.

here are some updated shots. i still don't have the starboard, but i talked to my dad and he said he has the perfect scrap piece for me and he is going to router the edges and send it on it's way to me. gotta love the scraps
i forgot to ask what color it was, but i am assuming it will be white, but thats ok. so onto the pics.

first pic, tank after adding 20lbs. live rock. i will be adding more from my 36 after the starboard arrives

i was hoping to get a clam within a month, but this rock is covered in pyramid snails, so thats a no go for now, but they should die off in a few months since they have no host in the tank

pyramid snails? How do they looked like? So they will die out if there is no host? Do they host in clam only? I see your barebottom ;) .. I heard that zoo like a little sand, more nutrient that way.. But looking good so far..

ctx~ i don't skim so they will have plenty of nutrients, and yes i am going bare bottom, i just got off the phone with my dad and he will be sending me a piece of 3/4" starboard for free
it will be light grey in color but thats ok. about me and fishtown, i am right on the line of long island city, so i am practically in queens, by car it usually takes me about 15-30 minutes to get there depending on the traffic. you just have to know when to leave. when i first started my tank i was there at least 4 days a week. there are times when there is nothing, but i usually go on saturdays and deal with two specific guys that always help me out, if something is not priced they give me a good deal such as the zoas above, i paid $5 for the whole rock, and there is a bit of sps that i think is porites on it, just a small patch, but we will see what happens to it

jonathan~even in my 36 i could not grow coraline on the glass :( i tried everything, but it did grow on the rocks, go figure, but yes i plan on keeping it clean, i love the glitter, it really adds to the tank.

I like coraline on the rocks, hey that could be a good drink name ;) , but I don't like it on the glass. the reason i don't like it on the glass is it ends up defining the shape of your tank. you end up with blotchy walls of purple that make the tank look smaller and it distracts your eye from what's going on inside the tank. I like when the walls of the tank fade away and do not give your eye anything to focus on. that add's to the illusion of depth. in your case the paint you put on the back is so cool looking it gives the rock and coral a background they will pop out against.
the other exception is something like solbbys tank where he has polyps growing on the back glass and sides. the walls of his tank are moving with the current's, that looks very cool. the way he has his rock set up those sides would not be seen too much anyway.

I think instead of group buy's from now on we should just give you all our tank money and have you buy us stuff at fishtown, it sounds like you have the hook-up there

lol sometimes i do. other times i don't. i think that they are high priced sometimes though. even with their 20% off. i only go there because it is the only store i know how to get to. waiting for the one here in greenpoint to open up, then fishtown won't be my main lfs :D
