LED Help

Im looking into getting LEDs for my 5o breeder. Do i have to get LEDs and than another fixture? Or can i run it off of just LEDs. If so what should I be looking for when looking at LEDs. Im new, please help.

Well it depends on what you are looking to keep and what fixtures you are looking at. Some fixtures are better for a fish only tank while others are suited to the needs of a reef tank. Now when it comes to reef tank, the species of coral you choose to keep will play a large role in what fixtures you should look into.

Now the cost of LEDs is quite high for one looking to keeps light demanding corals, but also consider the following: lower energy consumption, lower heat produced (which can result in lower energy consumption + the cost of a chiller, some fixtures offer full controllability, the life of an led is far greater than MH and t5 - so factor in bulb replacement cost when comparing

Here's a link to look at if your not sure you can contact the guy he's a member here and he'll advise you on what you should get whenever you decide what livestock you wanna put in the tank i got all my led's from him & i bought the diy packages and put them together. why did i buy the diy packages ? i have a rimless aquarium and i didn't want a fixture that would cover up or even take away from that feature so i built a hanging canopy . if your not happy with his prices there's other vendors right here that will help you out too.................................Rapid LED Home Page

For a 40g cube growing SPS, would one recommend an AI Sol Blue? Would it be enough? Any other recommendations? Thanks!
