hello all. i just recently purchased a becket skimmer, and there are some small, what i will call spider web cracks on the beckett housing. it doesnt look like there will be any water there because they are located where the air valves are

My neck hurts!

Rotate the pics Smoke.

I wouldnt worry about those cracks. If you feel there is a need for concern get some weld-on and glue the valves and cracks.

sorry about the pic, but i didnt realize until it was already posted...lol

those are certainly cracks...and i am also wondering what keeps the becket from pushing out of its housing since there are no twist or thumb screws to hold it in place.

If air can pass through the housing, dialing it properly can be a chore. FWIW I like the new style becketts MRC has. They are sealed and have a 1" female thread inlet. Pricey though.

i just read the MRC Club in the RC forums...it seems that there is a wicked case of overtightening:smash: going around ( it wasnt me that did it though). other than that the skimmer is a great piece of equipment. it is really skimming well, and it certainly kicks the butt of the ER needlewheel i had:lol_large.

There is no comparison of a beckett to a needle wheel. Becketts outperform with a high wattage cost, needle wheels perform, but with a lower wattage cost. Me... I like becketts. Meshwheels are a promising compromise of both, but like everything else... bugs need to be worked out. Nice choice on the skimmer. Weldon 4 will seal the crack if there are any issues.
