:) the one on chamber was nice. The one I worked at probably went out of business about 18 years ago. It was right next to the tram. Sigh. I'm so old. so old.

I remember the one on 59th I think, did they have a big display tank in the window? and the store was kind of sparse looking. I saw them making a tank there once in the store.

I also liked the store that was on 3rd ave down in the 30's or 20's I forgot the cross street. the salt water was in the back.

No not reef and river. Reef and river wasn't around for when the hobby went to reefing which IMO was when the Berlin method really took off. Reef and River was mostly the 80s style setups with wet drys, one piece of dead coral and some fish.

First Class was mostly salt and had several reefs setup in the back. They sold all kinds of hard to get items and, well you'd remember it if you were there. It wasn't as nice as the place on West 4th in the village but it did have alligators, 10 foot pythons in trees (inside the store) and many hard to get specimens.

remember when new world was in the village?

Yeah...on 8th street, thought it was neat that they had tiny tanks with only
1 or two fish in each of them!
I used to stand outside the window and watch the reef tank all the time.
The one on 23rd st - New York Aquarium - that place was the bomb.
First it was on the south side of the street, then they moved to the north side (I think pearl paint took their space).
They had good peoples working there...anyone remember DEE?
I also met David Blain there. He's into snakes and bought his pinkies from them.
