hi wrasselady I just started this hobby too, and my tank is about 2 months old and I am having the same exact problem. When I went to the store the rock was purple, but now it is like all green and brown. And my tank doesnt have the red and purple on the glass either. And I am also using RO water. Does anyone know who is more experienced than us tell us what to do?

thanks

may I suggest reading this link

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/...ease-read.html

and this

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/...ia-primer.html

Then post a thread in the beginners forum with all the info from the first link and your goals and members here will definitely guide you in the right direction. If you are using RODI water from the start and are a month in I am guessing you are still cycling and the algae you are getting is a normal part of the process.

Did the snowcassos go for 200 aswell and I love those clowns nice buy there

yes they did...lol

clownfishman, you need to start your own thread under beginer forum and you will get alot of people helping you.. besides if you read all the threads in there you will see that what you have is a normal tank cycling..also your filtration and lighting makes a difference.. also we have esablished tanks, that have been running for a long time.. our lakes all looked like crap in the begining it takes alot of time and patience.. it is definitly a skill and a learning curve if you are new you will make mistakes.. but reading and doing your reaserch before you make a quick desision bc something looks cool.. make sure you can handle the rsponsibility and have the propper equiptment.,

Kuyamark I am sorry to hear this. I went through the same thing as I said and Mike begged her to add more heat packs for my second try and she said it would be fine, in our case we managed to get lucky but yours is unacceptable, she knew it was going to be cold and had at least Mike hounding her about extra heat. The more I think about it the more upset I am after reading your post.

the AMAZING Doni's Reef Snowcasso's and Picasso are in, they were delivered at 10am, they were in rough shape, wasnt sure if they were gonna make it, freezing cold mixed with one heatpack=OMG!

neadless to say i went right to work getting them warmed up and nersed them back to health.. i got them into a container and out of the breathing bags, added a small amt of warmer tankwater to start, kept them in a dark area where i dripped them for abt 2 hrs, where they came back to life.. i fed them in the container, they all ate like pigs.. there now in their temporary home in my 40b(in their hotel, lol) till their setup is ready, and james' can be picked up..

heres some pics from when i frist took them out, they look almost dead, up to them livin it up in the fish hotel..haha

RD, I agree... and knowing that this was the second shipment because my first shipment with zhi and javier ended in 3 out of 4 dead... with the same issue (not enough heat packs) is unacceptable. Mike (motortrendz) was very specific with doni about the cold weather and our concerns and asked her to pack more heatpacks (and offered extra cash) and still it came with 1. This ended well but depressing that she won't ship fish properly.

PR, let me tell you, as an firefighter/EMT, ive has a few nice saves in my life, but i had to work for this one..haha i really didnt think they were gonna make it.. all were in the breathing bags on their sides unresponsive.. i got them into a container and added a cup of tank water for a little warmth and o2, solwly with a nice steady drip and i kept them in the dark to keep stress levels down within a few hrs they were ok.. man i was sweating it out tho..

I just got mine yesterday and they were DOA, I emailed Doni asap and informed her that my snowcasso was DOA I was so upset for the amount of $$$ they should know how to properly ship these fish in the winter. I was hesitant upon purchasing them because of the weather but I went ahead and did it anyway what a dork!! Well i'll wait for her response and see what she says. Both fish looked like they were dead for awhile when I opened the box

Im pissed! Partly my fault bc i said ok to ship but i also asked to make sure it was packed warm and i would pay extra(even more than the $50 to make sure!) but now gotta pay it again..
