I just pulled this thing out of my tank. Not sure how it got there. I know I didn't put it in there.

Seems to have a shell but I noticed that it has antennae and it stretches upward, kind of like a dog or cat when they stand on their hind legs.

Can someone please tell me what this is and whether or not I should be concerned?

Thanks!

Also, when you saw it "stand up", it was most likely spawning. Hopefully you'll have more soon, depending on the type of fish you have, as many fish eat them.

Thanks Rookie! I have to be honest, it scared the crap out of me when I saw it doing that, lol. I put him back in this morning and he took off for cover.

I have a six line wrasse, 2 yellow watchman gobies, a lawnmower blenny, 2 clowns, 2 cleaner shrimp. I'm supposed to have a pistol shrimp but I have never seen him once since I put him in the tank.

Yesterday I added two small peppermint shrimp and a coral banded shrimp.

How do these things get in your tank? I started my tank with all dry rock and somehow I got them. I put a few empty shells in my tank and I think they used them.

I started with dry rock too. I suspect they must have come in on a frag plug, even though I've dipped and QT'd everything in my tank. I'm just relieved that its a good hitchhiker!
