its a little hard to tell but it looks like an emerald crab because of the shape of the shell but the claws look a little small but if it is an emerald crab i would take him out because they can pick at corals if not satisfied with the algae or food they are provided with

it's a gorilla crab for sure they are not good man they can kill fish and mess up corals. I just researched a bunch of crabs because I found a hitchhiker on a piece I bought last night..many people suggested it was a gorilla crab but it was not black like that with red eyes. Mine I think is an acro crab but yours is def a gorilla keep him sumped.

Update on this nasty crab. its very very bad news. to any one who ever encounter it take it out asap. only keep it in fuge if u have nothing in it other then rock and sand. i have a giant dragon eel live in the fuge very happy for years. after the crab was introduced to the fuge, it started to nibble at the eels tail. i realize the eel stay away from it rock home and it have tail tip that look like it had been chewed on :sad2::sad2::sad2:. not a pretty site. it was perfectly healthy before the crab and now its causing all kind of damage. took a lot of effort to extract the crab. for any one ever encounter it, get ride of it fast!!!

lol wasnt scuring it suggested? i useally dont keep fish in my fuge unless they are being nursed back to health, and it also depends on how bad they are ill, my crabs are slow so they cant really catch a swiming fish nore do they try since i feed them from time to time. hope the eel heals good and propper!
