Well seeing that education has been mentioned in another thread I thought it should be pulled out and given its own thread.
Here's a short summery of what CORL is working on.
CORL-AS has been working on an education program for the public schools here in American Samoa that will cover levels K-12. If we can find additional funding the program it will be added to the private schools and the community college here also.
Products from the project will be made available on the CORL web site as they are finished and will include power points presentations, interactive CD’s, DVD videos, fun activities for the lower levels, and Labs using in classroom aquariums in mid-upper levels. In the High Schools full Reef aquariums and coral propagation systems will be used.
To make the multi media products useable in other countries we will need translators, anyone who can help with translation of materials should contact me by email at [email protected],
The multi media part of this program will be made available to teachers in Developing Nations at the cost of publication and shipping. Those in the Developed Nations will be asked to make a donation to obtain the materials. Funds received will be used for creation of new education materials or in providing the developing nations the materials free.
In a few weeks we will be meeting to finalize the curriculum outline, if some people here would like to become involved and review the project outline I'd appreciate your input and any suggestions.
Mike King.
