  1. 20K 150Watt HQI on 10gallon

Very cool, I am extremely tempted, will I see a huge difference as compared to my 96watt 50/50 PC? It's practically new, I'm a sucker for reef tech (lights, skimmers, etc) Thanks for the replies ::]
  2. 20K 150Watt HQI on 10gallon

Is this a good idea? I can get a decent deal on a ballast, but wasn't sure if it was too much for a 10gallon to handle. Right now I just have a few softies / shrooms but was thinking of adding some more advanced corals. Thoughts?
  3. MH Pendent Hanging

I was thinking about using one of my MH 175 pendents over my new 10 gallon but I can't attach it from the ceiling. Has anyone come up with a stand of sorts to make this work? Or know of another solution?
  4. do you like your tank?

I'd hate my tank if it was perfect, I'd have no reason to muck around, no reason to do research, no reason to post on message boards, look for new equipment, etc :) But seriously I enjoy my smaller 10 gallon which was a 5 gallon much more than my 55 gallon ever. The 55 gallon was just way too...
  5. Skimmer and plankton life (coepods etc) & bubble questio

I just installed a new bak-pak type skimmer with built in fuge being run on my just upgraded 10 gallon with a Rio 800RVT. First off I noticed that the bubbles aren't as dense as I'm used to seeing in my euro-reef, when the fuge light is onI can see right through the bubble column. Am I just...
  6. Going overboard

I am modding my seaclone and saw someone suggest, "remove the airline valve with a precision needle(air) valve" Only problem is that I can't seem to find one of these needle valves. Anyone have a link?
  7. Going overboard

I posted this in the Reef Newbie forum and got pointed here. Basically I'm a sucker for new equipment, probably enjoy tinkering with my filters and lights as much as I do adding livestock. What I was curious about is my new 10 gallon nano which I upgraded from a 5gal. A calcium reactor would be...
  8. Going overboard

Yeah I had a feeling the Calcium react would be a bit much. I'll pop over to the nano forum for some ideas.
  9. Going overboard

I always enjoy the tech side of the hobby and enjoy getting the best gadgets. However I can go overboard and just want to get some opinions on my 10gal setup. The lights I'm happy with 96Watt PC, but I have a Seaclone skimmer running that I pulled from the basement on it. I made some small...
  10. Mushroom die off

I'll have to take a look tonight, see if I can't find what's causing the snapping. Since it's such a small tank I'd think I'd see a mantis, but who knows it's amazing what you'll find when you move things around. I think I have the largest bristle worm hiding somewhere in there. :) THanks for...
  11. Mushroom die off

I was doing my bi-weekly water change on my 5 gallon nano last week and replaced the poly-filter in the hang-on-the-back, over the next 2 days all my great mushrooms that had all grown from one shroom shriveled and died. Everything else in the tank seems to be alright. (encroaching gorgonias...
  12. It's so big...

Fair enough, I'll see what I can find when the lights go out, look for other prospects.
  13. It's so big...

I would tend to agree, but everything in the tank is thriving, and I watched the royal at the pet store over a week, always ate, not really skittish. Acclimated him nice and slowly with a dripline. Saw him in the rocks the day before and his skeleton the next. :( I just thought cause it was...
  14. It's so big...

Well, something got the gamma last night. D*mnit. Guess I'll have to go fishing for bristle worms, unless you think a Fire Shrimp could be the culprit.
  15. It's so big...

For a small 5 gallon tank I just saw the largest bristle worm ever. Must be at least 4" long and rather thick. What worries me is that I seem to remember somehting about them going after small fish. And I just added a Royal Gamma as the sole inhabitant. Should I be worried?
