I am definitely talking about the small, fine cracks radiating from the glued edge. They appeared a few minutes after the glue was applied. I am not sure of the mechanism of how it occurs but it happens when too much glue is applied. Maybe the solvent dries out the acrylic or something as it...
I just tried to repair my leaking calcium reactor and got too much solvent glue on the inside seam of the tube. The result was that the tube edge crazed about an inch up the side. Is the tube now destroyed or is crazing just a surface condition?
The color will depend on what brand of RO unit you have. The instructions that came with the unit should tell which is which. If you tell who the manufacturer is maybe someone could help. I believe that you are right about the 3:1 ratio.
I just let my MFM subscription lapse. It sounds like it should be a good mag for marine only but it blows. There are almost no photos. The editing is terrible. I wonder if they have even heard of a word processor. They certainly do't use spell check. They have alot of beginner articles but...

Well I just completed the long planned move of my 125gal reef tank from Ripon, WI to Carmel, IN, about 365 miles. Got everything setup and everything survived the trip. I thought all my planning had panned out. There was 1 problem. I had so little time to make the move that I had to rush...
I think you are onto something there. Technically there is not a siphon-it could still flow with some air in the tube if there is enough forward pressure. The air block which occurs is a similar problem though in that air has to be pushed against gravity to get things going.
If I install a...
I just finished moving my tank (a 365 mile move, but that's another story) and set it up in the basement. When the main pump starts the built-in overflows do not always start flowinf and the pump overflowed. The tank is a 125gal All-glass reef ready with built-in corner overflows. With the...
The vast majority of brittle stars and serpent stars (brittle=spiny, serpent=smooth) are reef safe. The green serpent star is the exception as it is predatory. It catches prey by elevating it's body forming a trap with it's legs. This then looks like a safe crevice under a rock. When a small...
Those nasty diatoms make it really hard to see all the pretty animals in the tank. I think that is pretty much their downside. On the other hand they are the staple food of many snails. Without it the snails will not survive. I guess the reason to have the snails is to eat the diatoms, so I...
I read the post you linked to and the conclusion I came away with is more like:
"Almost no one should be keeping anemones because the success rate is abysmal even in the best hands."
and
"If you simply must keep an anemone, only do so after you have years of reef-keeping experience, have read...
I emailed Robert Michelson and here is his reply :
"I am designing an improved version that eliminates the shaft seal all
together. I haven't been working too hard on this project however, because
the current valve is still perfectly functional and I'm building other
things ... So I've got a...
