  3. hello from AQUAFX

Hello everyone out there. I am from Aqua Fx in Florida. We've had a few too many hurricnaes but we survived. I just wanted to introduce myself as I am new to the comapny. We are a sponsor of the site and I am here to answer any questions. We have some great products made to order to fit...

Just want to apologize for our email responses. Spam is OUT OF CONTROL. We get 3 to 4 hundred a day. A normal filter really doesn’t work well for us, because of the way we receive email. If anyone got a spam filter that will not knock out "good" emails, let us know. I know some of the...

  7. specturapure? RO/DI

Just some things to look for; Bracket material, some are plastic some are steel and we use alumium. We have found plastic can sag or break, the steel can rust. Pressure gauges, we feel you need them. TDS meters, the only way to know if the system is working.
  8. Amonia in tap water

YND, The ammonia is probably from chloramines. Your idea is very good, for the ammonia. Just so you know there are other reasons for RO water. TDS levels won't come down without either RO, DI or distillation. One of the best examples of a dissolved solid is salt, everyone knows it is...
  9. Amonia in tap water

YND, How are your N levels, either form? I think your idea is great. Let me know your test results, please.
  10. Amonia in tap water

I have done several field test, mostly with Discus breeders due to the sensitivity of the fish and the need for high volumes of water. Where DI becomes very expensive. What happens with the GAC is the chlorine component of the chloramines is reduced to undetectable, but the ammonia remains...
  11. Amonia in tap water

loule, We have done field testing on the GAC's that are claiming they are catalytically activated to reduce the ammonia, and found they do a VERY POOR job in filters the sizes this hobby uses. To get any effect you would need a 4-5 foot column of carbon and depending on the other contaminants...
  12. Amonia in tap water

Just so you know, RO by itself will not remove the ammonia that is tied up in chloramine. Actually the carbon in a RO system will remove the chlorine portion but not the ammonia. So if you go to buy RO water, it must not have been made from water containing chloramine (unless it is followed...
  13. reverse osmosis deionization-cost of units-cost of operating

There are different ways you can set up your RO/DI system with a permeate pump. You can have the water back feed from the pressurized tank and go through the DI if you like or you can keep the 4 gallon tank as a drinking water reserve, it is up to you. The permeate pump should not lower the...
  14. RO vs. DI

Of course some people know how to mix acids and bases with out creating an explosion, and they may check to see if the pH of the water is in safe ranges not to damage plumbing. And these people would know about the skin and eye damage that will happen if these chemicals are mishandled. Never...
  15. reverse osmosis deionization-cost of units-cost of operating

True, But well worth the savings. http://www.aquariumwaterfilters.com/ROD ... ePump.html Great if your going to have a drinking water kit, pressure tank is already there.
