  1. Berlin Turbo Skimmer

Hey Mike, Could you elaborate on what's involved in downgrading the Turbo to a Classic? Does ReaSea pay for the necessary components? I have a Turbo too that I'm less than satisfied with.
  2. aiptasia??

Well if it was Aiptasia (and it sounds like it was) be glad it's gone. I've never heard of them moving so something may have eaten it (coral banded shrimp?) or it simpley died. It sounds like a daughter colony formed before it disapperad though. If you do a search you'll find lots of...
  3. power compacts

This brings up a question I have: I have a Custom Sealife PC hood that came with 65W 8,800K bulbs. I want to upgrade to 96W 10,000K. Can this be done with the existing ballast?
  4. HELP WITH STOLEN CLAM IN BAY AREA, CA.

It's a wise idea to put locks on display tanks. I know some LFS in the Chicago area do that- not only to protect from theft but to keep customer's hands out. The anemone in the pocket trick- wow! That truley is something H. Simpson would do.
  5. power compacts

Thanks for the reply Matt. I just called Custom Sealife and they basically told me the same thing- plus the socket of the bulbs is different.
  6. Chicago Tab Water

Mike, How do you test your RO membrane? I have a Spectrapure and they recommend testing for chlorine. However, the test kit they supply doesn't seem very accurate.
  7. Chicago Tab Water

I was actually going to ask this same question. I just started getting "city" water about a year ago. What a HUGE difference compared to the crap water Bolingbrook used to have. I started my 55g with the new tap water and had no problems at all. I have been using RO/DI for my top offs and...
  8. Bubble Algae and Aiptasia

The Peps do work- they love aiptasia. Yes they sometimes pick at my mushrooms but they never caused any permanent damage. I had a bubble algae outbreak in my 55g and manually removed as many as I could without popping them (they can relaese spores and spread when you pop them- so I heard)...
  9. Black Powder

I suppose Spectra Vital is crap too. I'll seach the archives for more info. Thanks for your help.
  10. Black Powder

Is this product any good?? I add it to my tank once a week. I have noticed red slime algae on my sand bed since I started using this. I add about 1/8 teaspoon to a 90 gallon tank.
  11. Bristle Worms (LARGE)

I'm new to Reefs.org and must say that so far I'm very impressed with the knowledge and insight shown here. It's this kind of information and help that will propel this hobby to new levels. Now for my question: I saw a bristle worm work its way out of a piece of live rock that was close to...
  12. Bristle Worms (LARGE)

Brett, Thanks for the VERY helpful link. The picture shown is a dead on match to the critter found in my tank. It looks like it will be a helpul (and cool looking) addition to my tank. [ January 10, 2002: Message edited by: Aquatic Noggin ]</p>
  13. 'Pods and critters destroyed when going thru pumps?

I've noticed in my tank (at night) that most of these critters stay near the sand bed or around the live rock. However, I'm sure some do find there way near the power heads and sucked through. I'm sure this would kill some but in the long run I don't think this will adversly affect the population.
