Whole foods has frozen escargot. Boil them, pull out the meat, and you're good to go. That's how I got mine.

I felt the same way. Until I saw my cat and possum wrasse in a staring contest. I figured if I painted it black it wouldn't be that bad. Never painted it and definitely got used to it. I actually like how it sits right on the overflow.

I stopped the screen right before the pipes then did the rest with egg crate. Works out great. Sorry for the bad pic
