  1. Sunlight T5 help

Any comments/experience with the Accustart 5 ballast? Oh, in answer to your question - Premium Aquatics.
  2. Sunlight T5 help

I bought a Sunlight Tek Light T5 Retro kit to use for actinics on my 92G corner reef. Now I have two problems 1) I tried to get my Lfs to install it to a wooden board, they basically told me the kit sucked, said they'd had a lot of problems with the electronic ballast it comes with - Accustart...
  3. light combo choice

I found out it comes with 14k bulbs (forget which ones) so I don't think im gonna do that one. I think Ive decided on the Sunlight Maristar 36" which premium aquatics also sells. That one has the ushio 10k and t5's. Ideally id like the vho just cause of the rave reviews from Len and others...
  4. light combo choice

Okay, I've decided (in part to your help and information) to buy a lighting system with 2 MH 250DE HQI and 2 actinics - either VHO or T5. I found a system from premium aquatics which actually seems pretty cheap in comparison. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant ... e=Wonhoods Does anyone...
  5. Night Light

I believe I've read that you can put a red light over the tank for night viewing and the locals (fish & inverts) will behave as if it was dark. Does anybody do this? And how so (where to get info on this type of lighting). Thanks (PS - I must say, my least favorite school work was physics...
  6. lighting setup

Okay, I've been reading all i can about lighting for weeks now and this is what I have come up with for my 92G Corner tank. 36" MH system with (2) 250W DE HQI Ushio 10K bulbs plus two actinics. I have 2 Questions 1) I have reluctantly decided on 2 MH bulbs even though my LFS said one would be...
  7. Rock on Glass

Is it okay or a no-no for Live Rock to be touching the back glass of my tank? I'm trying to stack rocks as close to back glass as possible to maximize usage of space. Thanks.
  8. Lighting help

Question, ive read one MH bulb for every 2 ft'. Does this mean that the light has full effect in a 2ft diameter and less after two feet, or is it already diminished at 2 ft from the source? Also, due to the weird shape of corner tanks, are the actinic bulbs only effective when directly over...
  9. Aiptasia

ahh, yes i had seen your picture but couldnt make out anything. I finally see what your referencing. Ill try to borrow a dig camera tonight.
  10. Lighting help

I checked out Jeff's Exotic Fish, this is what they had to offer: 1 250Watt HQI Hamilton 10k MH 2 95 Watt 36" Actinics (hamilton i guess) 2 fans, eyehooks, etc.. in a 3 ft. canopy 6.5" high 11.5" wide $625 Or I could get 2 250 Watt Bulbs for $799 My LFS, prob the best in NJ, thought 1 250 HQI...
  11. Lighting help

Sorry, could someone explain to me what "mogul style" means? Thanks.
  12. Hey all you corner tank owners:

Well, I also have a new corner 92G tank and have been unable, so far, to find answers. Hello Lights has a 24" light with a 175 watt MH and Actinic 03 bulbs. I believe the light can be hung (pendant), at least that is how i read it, but could be wrong. I have no idea what actinic 03 means...
  13. Aiptasia

That a great pic, thanks. Hmmm, I'm thinking i don't have Aptasia because my "things" are not attached to a stalk, just a flat ring attached directly to rock. Maybe it wouldnt hurt to pick up a few peppermint shrimp just in case .. ??
  14. Aiptasia

Does anyone have a really good picture of Aiptasia? Ive searched this forum but couldnt make out what was being referenced in some of the pictures. Does Aiptasia always have a stalk before the tentacles? The reason for my question is in my new reef tank i have a bunch of things that look like...
  15. Lighting help

Hello all, I've been lurking here for some time while planning my reef tank. Ive kept a 125G Brackish for 2 years and set up Reef tank a few months ago. My tank is a 92G Corner (Oceanic RR) with a 54G sump underneath. Theres approx 100 lbs. base rock and 6in sand in the sump and 100 lbs Live...
