i thought the same as you. The sump is baffled, I had a aquac urchin on my other tank and that worked well. As i understand it the urchin is a glorified remora, so I will pick up one of those.
before i do that however, I need to get a different top as it covers the entire thing, including the...
Yeah i have noticed that those skimmers are for larger tanks. Its too bad too because ideally, everything would be hidden from the display tank. Guess this is the cost of having a smaller tank.
another question too:
if i were to look at metal halide for lighting:
http://www.jbjnanocubes.com/index1.html
what about actinic lights? what do folks with metal halide lamps do in that situation?
on my other tank I had it set up to go in the morning moon light, actinic, then white and...
Actually,
now i beg to question,
In this nano tank of mine,
Could I set up a protein skimmer in the stand below the tank, concealed, but not in a sump? So I mean it would be in a dry space?
If so, what would you recommend for a 24 gallon system?
the 3 requires a multiplication of 2.5 to get the dKh reading, so in this case it would be 7.5. I tested again the other day and it read 3.5, so 8.75.
I was not aware of anything about the leather, however it is also a new habitant.
Actually, it seems that the corals constriting almost all the...
Off of my recently posted thread but a slightly different question.
My tanks temp has returned to normal,
all the while my levels all have been very good except for calcium (at 350+-)
0 ammonia/nitrite/nitrate
ph of 8
alk at 3 (cant remember what the 3 refers to however, but I know this to be...
Hi there,
Recently (for the past few weeks) my marina electronic thermostat has told me the temp has been 74 or below, even though I thought this was strange I increased my heaters operating temp. I then felt the water did not feel right so I bought two new thermostats, an electronic and a...
So I picked up this 24 gal nano cube yesterday - cant wait for it to come in:

I've shopped at dr foster and smith in the past but always thought that a lot of there stuff was a bit pricey for the most part. But I could not turn this nano...
So I am moving into an older house. The foundation that is currently there needs to be fixed up in order to support my 45 gal tank. Unfortunately this is beyond my budget at the time being.
I still want to grow a reef tank, and with my current set up I can easily fit all my corals and fish...
My lighting is 2-92watt - a 10,000k and a blue light....im not sure 100% what I am talking about but thats the wattage.
some veterans of the hobby have told me that is on the low end and that is fine for now. Ill be moving into a home in about a month and a larger tank will follow within the...
Ive read that the brown and green is a good sign and when I first bought him he was a bright white so I was in a bit of a panic mode that he died.
So turning brown is great.
The other thing though is that he used to have his tentacles very far out and he looked very large. Now he is very...i...
well I did find him. He some how got into my sump? well, thats a first for me but now I am a bit worried. Looks like I went a little ill-prepared when I bought this guy. Well he does not seem dead yet, so I guess I would fall under the bad parent category but I will believe I still have hope...
Well,
the tank doesnt smell. THe rock work is not terribly extensive so I figure I would be able to see him given its size.
Now, in terms of feeding - thats actually a good question I should ask.
I have been feeding my fish brine shrimp and there is usually left overs for the starfish and the...
