The beckett injector plus the elbows put quite a bit of back pressure on the pump. I would try a mag 24 or an Iwaki 55rlt on that skimmer. I'm sure you will see a difference. Also, instead of a 90 degree fitting, I would put a straight barb fitting where your pump tubing connects to your skimmer...
How tall is the skimmer? The pump may not be powerful enough. I have an Iwaki 55rlt rated at 1500gph on a 28" becket injector skimmer and the water in the skimmer is milky white.
Mine was a bit loud also. What I did was cover the boxes in the tank and out of the tank with some lexan sheets I bought at Home Depot. You have to cut out where the overflow tubes are. It solved the problem. Try it.
Which is the better pump in your opinion. I have to replace a mak 4 and was considering a blueline pump from champion lighting. What do you think? I'm looking for a pump that energy efficient and is quiet. My mak4 has gotten considerably louder in the last few months.
I wouldn't recommend getting the CPR overflow. I had the CS 102 and it required a lot of maintenance to keep it from clogging. You will also need a powerhead to get it to start after a power failure. If the powerhead doesn't restart, you'll have a major flood. I got rid of mine and bought a...
There are two basic asjustments that can be made to an operational reactor, the effluent rate and the amount of CO2 added. The trick is to balance the output of the reactor with the daily consumption of alkalinity in the tank.
Increasing the CO2, while maintaining the effluent rate, results in a...
