I have a tank full of BTA and RBTA in my 225 gallon reef of 1 1/2 years and have NEVER FED ANY OF THEM....and they are thriving...almost thriving too well....they are huge and growing.....I believe it all depends on the water quality and more importantly the lighting...jus my 2 cents....Dennis

Don't starve your fish....just get a feeding ring...I have used them too..but now use a piece of pvc that drops just below the water surface..I also attach a worm feeder that drops just below the water surface and use dry food that will pass through the small holes..with each pass of my sea...
Get a EuroReef Skimmer, can't go wrong with that..they are very well made and worth every penny..I have one on my 225 gallon reef...It rocks and the customer support is great too..Good Luck
For a 300 gallon tank...thats a bargain buddy....But than again I live in So Cali....I have a 225 gallon reef w/4 250 watt MH 4 power compacts and a chiller among other things...My bill runs bout 200 in the winter...another 30-50 dollars in summer...consider yourself lucky...
For long term success you will be better off with an electronic meter to dose kalk......I am a paramedic and I tried to used these for dripping various solutions...short term they will work but they will not work long term....the tubing gets clogged very easy....Over time as the container level...
I'm stumped too.....I have been keeping reefs for over 15years and have never seen this in my other tanks...I'm leaning toward lighting too...but my last tank was a 180 gallon Reef with 250watt MH and never had this problem....plus when the Power Compacts are on with no MH lights the tint is...
I have 2 Elegance in my Reef, over the past several days the first elegance which I have had for over 1 month has exhibited shortened tentacles and will not expand....The second one is only 1 week old as is nice and full...whats up wit that....no major changes done to the tank other than normal...
In the previous post you can see that the left side is more obviously Yellow/Green than the right..Here you can see it in the full tank shot...I have not harvested any algae in my refugium for 1 month now...could it be leaching and how much should I remove...Thanks again

Bypass all that hassle...I just bought a mated pair of Maroon Clowns and they are still happy after 3-4months....Even with another mated pair of Orange Skunk clowns in the same tank (on different ends of tank)...The tank is a 225 gallon......in the first several weeks the Maroons tried to evict...
I too have the dreaded Byropsis in my 225 gallon Reef. I am trying to keep it under control...I have found by deprieving it of light will kill it in short order.....I used several pieces of saltwater safe epoxy to cover the several patches for about 1 week...after removing the epoxy the algae...
