I feel sorry for you, HD's fault. Test it out to confirm, leave the water in the buckets for a week and check out the TDS. The water in your display has to be high in TDS anyway, do to salt, and everything over the years. But ya, I wouldn't bother using HD orange buckets anymore.

Guys, I would like to confirm this. YES HD orange buckets do leach a lot of TDS. It's definitely not salt residue. I have a new RODI Unit. I have 4 buckets: 2 old salt buckets, and 2 new home depot orange buckets. I filled the 4 buckets. And got my TDS meter the next day. Water coming...
