I personally feel that a chemical assay is the first step that must be taken. Once this has been done, if we confirm that the salts which Ron Shimek had the most success with are truely closer to NSW then we have our proof. If not... We need to find out WHY he got the results he did. There...

I would make only two suggestions: 1. Thoroughly MIX the entire contents of each salt mix before using. Stuff may have settled during shipping. 2. Use a sample of Catalina water and water from the East coast so that hobbyists out this way can know just how safe it is to use, and use NSW...

In any testing, I would like to see other parameters tested as well. Parameters such as ammonia, nitrate, nitrite. I would also like to see tests done on the same water samples, but after they have been run through activated carbon. I'd be willing to kick in a few dollars. ($20) -Alfred

I must admit, there are a few questions which have been raised by Dr. Shimek's article. While I certainly appreciate the work and effort that he put into it, I think it would have been wise to allow the results to speak for themselves rather than include a link to his favorite online store...
